In today’s video, we will be learning how to precisely select dark hair from a solid color background in Photoshop. No matter how frizzy or wispy the hair is, using Channels in Photoshop will help us select the hair in one swoop, nice and clean. With Channels, we are able to create a silhouette of our subject with all the details, and clip that silhouette out, nice and clean.

Even though the hair is perfectly selected, there is always some color fringes around the edge. How to solve it? The quick answer is Hue/Saturation. We will use this tool along with Layer Masks to completely remove the color fringes, so the selected hair can be placed on any complicated background nicely.

The tools and fundamentals used in this process will be Pen tool, Dodge tool, Brush Tool, Channels, Layer Masks, and Hue/Saturation.

Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy this video and learn something new today!
